A year ago, I thought I was making a podcast about resilience.

Turns out... I was making something quite different.

Somewhere between the stories, the neuroscience, the laughter, and my own curiosity about why we humans do the things we do, Transformative Journeys quietly became a place to make sense of life's messier moments together.

If you're looking for perfect answers or "10 Steps to a Better You"... I'm probably not your person.

But if you enjoy thoughtful conversations, honest stories, practical psychology, a little neuroscience, and the occasional not-so-PG sentence... you might just feel at home here.

Season Two is a continuation of the journey - but it's also a clearer reflection of what this podcast has become.

So grab a coffee.

Pull up a chair.

I'm really glad you're here.

Just over a year ago, I sat down with a brand-new microphone I wasn’t sure how to use, a list of ideas to talk about… and only a vague idea of where I was going with this podcast.

A year before that, the idea of a podcast around surviving traumatic stuff and resilience started to form… without any real sense of how I wanted to approach it… just that it was something I needed to do.

The funny thing is that, back then, I thought I was going to make a podcast about resilience.

About healing.

About personal growth.

About building a life that’s good – after surviving something bad.

Those things are still here… sort of.

But somewhere along the journey, the stories... the research... laughing at myself and how weird humans can be... and more than a few moments where I found something that made me stop and think, "Ohhhh... I never thought about it that way before..." … something happened.

I realized that this podcast was evolving into something much different – with much more depth – than I had originally imagined.

I stopped trying to create the podcast I thought I was supposed to make...

...and started making the one that felt most like me.

The truth is that most of us are doing the best we can with the experiences, beliefs, and stories we've picked up along the way. And those stories aren’t always our own.

Sometimes it’s hard to find the words for the questions or feelings about what’s going on.

And sometimes we’re carrying around things that don't make sense until someone else says, "I’ve been there too."

Turns out… that’s kind of my lane.

Not the expert. Not the clinician. Not the person with all the right answers - or who hands out a roadmap for where to find those answers.

Just someone like you… who has a weird curiosity about neuroscience, psychology, and what makes us tick.

So each episode we'll sit down together and excavate some of life's messier moments.

With lots of curiosity – and a healthy dose of self-compassion and humour.

I don’t think there are universal or perfect answers.

But I do believe that curiosity can be more helpful than certainty.

And humour? It can often make the shitty stuff in life just a little bit less shitty.

I’ll tell you some honest stories from my own life...  sometimes wander into a little neuroscience or practical psychology... and, because I refuse to believe we have to be serious all the time… we’re gonna laugh a little too.

You’ll get a peek at some of my questionable life choices.

We’ll hopefully stumble into a few moments that make us stop and think.

And we’ll try to uncover some stuff that helps make sense of experiences we may have been carrying around for a really long time.

If you're looking for someone to tell you exactly how to live your life... or give to you ‘Ten steps to a better you”?

Um… I'm probably not your person.

If you struggle with the occasional un-filtered… not-so-PG sentence… you might want to tread carefully around here…

But if you're looking for someone who's willing to pull up a chair... think out loud with you... poke a stick at some of those uncomfortable questions... and occasionally laugh at herself while doing it...

...You might just have found a place you’ll feel at home.

Whether you've been with me since Episode One, or you've just only found this little corner of the internet...

Welcome. I'm really glad you're here.

And here's to Season Two.

To more curiosity.

More honest conversations.

More stories.

A little more understanding.

And if this podcast can do just one thing...

I hope it's this.

That when life hands you one of those things...

...you won't feel like you're sitting with them alone anymore.

I'll see you every other Monday.

So grab a coffee and pull up a chair.
